January 2010 has seen the launch of a new website for Primmer Olds – one of the leading firms of chartered surveyors and commercial property agents in the South of England. We created their previous website, which has given the client a good ROI, but an overhaul was well overdue it has to be said (similar situation a couple of years back when we updated their brand which dated from when the company started in 1989 – clearly excellent value they got from that… I hope our logo can last that long!).
This latest version of the website brings it right up to date, not just visually with more colour and impact (in line with our rebranding), but with significantly streamlined and optimised text and improved navigation and easier ways to get in touch….

A lot of information was required on the site… it’s always a challenge to design appropriately to accommodate lots of content – we have to make it function well and not look too busy (often having to encourage the client that ‘less is more’… but not in this case*) and crutially designing the website to ‘hold the visitors hand’ on their journey through the site, which ever direction they may choose to go in, which no one can predict! Also, we always include the all important ‘call to action’ on every page to maximise the chances of both the visitor reaching a positive conclusion to his/her search and the client making contact with a potential new customer.
The commercial agents property listings are managed internally with agency software Alcium – we worked directly with the software house to integrate a feed of data to keep the site constantly up to date without the need for additional administration by the client (replacing the previous content management system we built). The client has full control and can subsequently assure their clients of consistent and professional presentation of property details within all their marketing material… on their own website, on third party sites (ie. property portals that Alcium (or we) automatically feed onto) and also offline literature – ie brochures and window cards that derive directly from the same source material in the software.
*It has to be said commercial agents are behind the residential market in their understanding of the internet and the benefits it can bring – but not in this case with Primmer Olds who are clearly one of the more pro active and forward thinking companies in their field. We hope the site serves them well, for hopefully many years to come?
