CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) of proposed architectural development in Weymouth, Dorset. Created from architects drawings and build material schedule supplied by the property developer – the buildings were modelled in Archicad, a view was then chosen and rendered which included photomontage of images taken onsite of neighbouring properties. Subsequent views of the development can be rendered relatively easily from modelling done ie. individual impressions of each block for inclusion in the sales particulars/brochure. Initial use of the image will be reproduction at approx 6×15ft wide to go on the hoardings across the front of the site… should create excellent first impression, raising local awareness and generating early interest.

January 2010 has seen the launch of a new website for Primmer Olds – one of the leading firms of chartered surveyors and commercial property agents in the South of England. We created their previous website, which has given the client a good ROI, but an overhaul was well overdue it has to be said (similar situation a couple of years back when we updated their brand which dated from when the company started in 1989 – clearly excellent value they got from that… I hope our logo can last that long!).

This latest version of the website brings it right up to date, not just visually with more colour and impact (in line with our rebranding), but with significantly streamlined and optimised text and improved navigation and easier ways to get in touch….

Visit the site: primmerolds.co.uk

A lot of information was required on the site… it’s always a challenge to design appropriately to accommodate lots of content – we have to make it function well and not look too busy (often having to encourage the client that ‘less is more’… but not in this case*) and crutially designing the website to ‘hold the visitors hand’ on their journey through the site, which ever direction they may choose to go in, which no one can predict! Also, we always include the all important ‘call to action’ on every page to maximise the chances of both the visitor reaching a positive conclusion to his/her search and the client making contact with a potential new customer.

The commercial agents property listings are managed internally with agency software Alcium – we worked directly with the software house to integrate a feed of data to keep the site constantly up to date without the need for additional administration by the client (replacing the previous content management system we built). The client has full control and can subsequently assure their clients of consistent and professional presentation of property details within all their marketing material… on their own website, on third party sites (ie. property portals that Alcium (or we) automatically feed onto) and also offline literature – ie brochures and window cards that derive directly from the same source material in the software.

*It has to be said commercial agents are behind the residential market in their understanding of the internet and the benefits it can bring – but not in this case with Primmer Olds who are clearly one of the more pro active and forward thinking companies in their field. We hope the site serves them well, for hopefully many years to come?

… its the attachment of an outer skin of rear-ventilated cladding to a new or existing building. The system is a form of double wall construction that uses an outer layer to keep out the rain and an inner layer to provide thermal insulation, prevent excessive air leakage and carry wind loading. The outer layer breathes like a skin while the inner layer reduces energy losses. The structural frame of the building is kept absolutely dry, as water never reaches it or the thermal insulation. Evaporation and drainage in the cavity removes water that penetrates between panel joints. Water droplets are not driven through the panel joints or openings because the rainscreen principle means that wind pressure acting on the outer face of the panel is equalised in the cavity. Therefore, there is no significant pressure differential to drive the rain through joints. During extreme weather, a minimal amount of water may penetrate the outer cladding. This, however, will run as droplets down the back of the cladding sheets and be dissipated through evaporation and drainages. Description courtesy of Wikipedia.

Why are we telling you all this?… we have just designed and built a website for Rainscreen Solutions who specialise in the supply and installation of all types of rainscreen cladding… our brief was to showcase some of the excellent rainscreen cladding work they have done! Click here to visit the website.

September has seen the launch of the new website for Henry Adams, estate agents and chartered surveyors in Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex. Strong use of location photography of the area re-enforces their established, local presence. Property details are clearly laid out with Google mapping and functions such as arranging a viewing and emailing a friend. The website also features a full Content Management System so Henry Adams staff can edit and update the web pages themselves going forward. The site has been integrated with the agents residential software Aspasia for automatic daily updates of property listings.

We produced a booklet that documented the project. Katherine Anteney from Creative Partnerships said ‘The school are massively pleased with it. Giving things like this out to parents is a great way to disseminate the information about what their children have been doing and Rockit’s design has really hit the mark.’ This parent’s comment sums up the success of the project – ‘The pride on their faces says it all. This is where the real learning takes place’.

We are used to supplying work to printers on behalf of our clients, but this time we worked for them, looking at how they presented themselves. They have been in business for 125 years and have an established identity but it was being used on literature in lots of different ways.
